Befriended is a small charity with a Big vision. Our vision is to end loneliness and isolation amongst older people living in Mid Sussex working in partnership with local churches and organisations. We aim to fulfil Our vision by addressing the main causes and consequences of loneliness and isolation.

We do this by offering a range of services and activities that not only bring people together to improve wellbeing, encourage spirituality and build friendships, but also connect people with befrienders in their homes. We support people through the journey of bereavement and bring joy through their community choir, outings and tea parties.

Skills

We host a monthly afternoon tea party on the first Sunday of the month. This event has grown from 30 to 130 attendees, but is still run by same small team of people.

Hospitality is important to us and we love to provide as much homemade food as possible. Are you available to help in the kitchen?

Welcome is also really important to us and although a number of clients have become firm friends with each other there are always new people. Could you be a table host and make sure everyone has a chance to chat and be listened to?
