Befriended is a small charity with a Big vision. Our vision is to end loneliness and isolation amongst older people living in Mid Sussex working in partnership with local churches and organisations. We aim to fulfil our vision by addressing the main causes and consequences of loneliness and isolation.
We do this by offering a range of services and activities that not only bring people together to improve wellbeing, encourage spirituality and build friendships, but also connect people with befrienders in their homes. We support people through the journey of bereavement and bring joy through their community choir, outings and tea parties.
Skills
We write a newsletter every 2 months, with lots of stories of how Befriended is changing lives one smile at a time. The newsletter also includes our diary of upcoming events. It is sent out by email to about 700 people. But not everyone has email. We have about 200 newsletters that need to be delivered. We have some wonderful volunteers, but we need more. Could you deliver in Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath, Hassocks or Hurstpierpoint?
It's also a chance to check in with the clients. You're not expected to knock on every door, but if you have time or you notice something then please do stop for a chat on the door step.
If you're interested in this role or generally helping us in other ways, there's a volunteer form on our website befriended.org
