The Ramblers are the UK's only charity dedicated to removing barriers so everyone can enjoy walking in green spaces, and to improving Britain’s most popular and least-known walking places.
The purpose of the role is to act as the principal financial officer for the Area, ensuring all Area income and expenditure is properly managed and accounted for and compliant with Ramblers’ policies and procedures.
The key activities are:
• Managing the Area Bank Account and processing expenses claims
• Maintaining records of all transactions and producing accounts using the Ramblers’ spreadsheet-based system (Excel 97)
• Preparing Income and Expenditure Statements and Treasurer’s Reports for, and attending, the Quarterly Area Executive Committee and Council Meetings
• Leading the production and submission to Ramblers’ Central Office of the Area Budget and Annual Return, networking across the Group Treasurers
• Producing the Area Annual Financial Report and Accounts for approval at the AGM.
Skills
Comfortable with numerical data
• Organised, methodical and adept at co-ordinating with others
• Able to meet deadlines
• Good at keeping paper and electronic records regularly and consistently.
• Comfortable with Internet Banking
• Familiar with Bank Reconciliation
• Understanding of General Principles of Receipts & Payments Accounting
• Familiarity with Spreadsheets and particularly Excel 97
• Able to communicate with non-financial colleagues effectively
• Able to prepare written reports of financial activity.
