The Sussex Area of the Ramblers was formed in 1976 and membership across all age groups now stands at around 3,000. This includes eight Area groups and a similar number of Affiliated groups.
As well as organising many leader-led walks every week, we work on behalf of all walkers to protect the network of public paths, safeguard the beauty of the countryside, campaign for greater access to open country, and provide information and advice on all aspects of walking.
This is an opportunity to play a significant role in the leadership of the Area, working with the Chair, Executive Committee, Area Council and key contacts at Ramblers' Central Office, across a range of activities.
You will support the Area Chair in the leadership of the Area, deputise for the Chair as necessary, represent the Area when required at the interface with Ramblers' Central Office and external stakeholders, and undertake assigned projects as agreed with the Chair.
Skills
People person, able to lead a team with good humour and patience
Able to understand policies and apply them to real life situations
Organised, with the ability to develop and manage Area plans in support of its leadership
Diplomatic, with excellent communication skills for developing working relationships with people who may not share Ramblers' aims and objectives.
