Our Scout Group fundraises by letting out our hall to children’s birthday parties on weekends and some evenings. We use the money to keep subs affordable, maintain the hut, and take our young people on adventures. But we need volunteers to open the hut and lock up afterwards. If we had a team of local keyholders we could spread the load and offer even more affordable hall hire lets to the community.

Please email scouts@1sthaywardsheathscoutgroup.org if you’d like to hear more.

Every volunteer at the 1st Haywards Heath makes a big difference to the lives of our young people. One of our new Scouts wrote the following about his experience:

“I was really excited when I found out that I got a place at Scouts because I have been wanting to do it for ages. On my first night I was nervous but thrilled and it turned out to be extra exciting because one of my friends from school joined on the same night. I got put into Lion patrol and enjoyed finding out about all the different activities and camps that are accessible at Scouts.

Soon after I made the decision to go to my first ever Scout training camp, which happened only 5 weeks after I joined. I was a bit nervous again as it was the first time I had slept in a tent overnight or spent the night away from my family but I had a great time. One of my favourite things was learning to make pancakes. I have made them for my parents at home since.

I’m now looking forward to going to camp again in the summer. I have enjoyed Scouts so much that I recommended it to my best friend and now he has joined too.”
